Delete your Griterra account
You can delete your Griterra account, and the data tied to it, at any time: in the app, or by asking us.
In the app
- Open Settings and scroll to Delete account at the bottom.
- Read what will be deleted and what will be kept, then type the email address you sign in with to confirm.
- Tap Delete my account. The account is deleted right away, and the app signs you out and forgets what it had stored on your device.
Deletion cannot be undone. If a room you are the only owner of is being recorded at that moment, stop the recording first. Guest access (joining a room with a passcode and a name) has no account to delete.
By email
If you can't use the app, email burritostand@gmail.com with the subject Delete my Griterra account, from the email address you sign in with so we know the request is yours. If you can't, tell us the name and email on the account and we will confirm another way. We confirm by reply and complete the deletion within 30 days.
What is deleted
- Your account: email, name, profile picture, password hash, sign-in sessions, trusted devices and notification tokens.
- What you shared: your messages and reactions, everywhere, removed from our database completely rather than hidden; your photos, videos and files, and the stored copies of that media.
- Rooms you are the only owner of, with everything in them: messages, files, recordings and transcripts.
- People you blocked, and blocks other people placed on you.
Stored media is removed from storage as part of the deletion. If our storage provider can't be reached at that moment, we keep retrying automatically until it is gone.
Pavement's End and ExpeditionSpot sign in with the same Griterra account, so deleting it also deletes your data in those apps. Spots you added in Pavement's End stay on the map without your name.
What is kept
- Rooms you are a member or a co-owner of stay for their other members; you are removed from them, and your messages in them are deleted.
- Recordings and transcripts of calls in rooms you don't own stay with that room, no longer linked to your account.
- In rooms you don't own, the audit trail of an education plan (IEP) keeps the name you acted under, because it is the legal record of that plan.
- Reports of objectionable content stay so our moderation decisions can still be reviewed: a report you filed no longer names you, and a report about you or your content keeps the copy of what was reported but is no longer linked to your account.
- Records we must keep for security or legal reasons, for no longer than needed.
Only want to remove some things? You can delete your own messages, files and photos in the app without deleting your account. See the privacy policy for more.
